Friends of Santa Claus Scholarship
Saving for college is something a family should not have to think about while their child is fighting cancer. As the young adults in our program were graduating from high school and choosing to continue their education, we recognized the need for assistance with the rising cost of attending college. As a result, the Friends of Santa Claus established a scholarship fund in memory of our co-founder, Ted Van Thullenar, who passed away following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
The scholarship is $2,000.00 each year for four years at a college or technical school of their choice. This scholarship is only available to the child who has had cancer.
The criteria:
- Applicants must write an essay about what Friends of Santa Claus has meant to them.
- Applicants must maintain a “C†average in their studies.
- While attending college applicants must return to Camp MerryTimes as a counselor and a role model for campers who are still fighting the disease.
Application deadline is 2 months prior to start of freshman year. Application must be complete in full and submitted along with written essay.
