Q. Where do the children in the program live?
A. The children who participate in our program are from western North Carolina and upstate South Carolina.

Q. How much does it cost to fund each child during the year?
A. This year operating budget projects a cost of $1000.00 per child for the year. 

Q. Does our organization have any paid administrative staff?
A. No, our organization is 100% volunteer. We want all donations to be preserved for the benefit of the families in our program.

Q. How many children does Friends of Santa Claus serve?
A. As of January 1, this year there are 198 children involved in our program. 

Q. What kind of activities does Friends of Santa Claus sponsor?
A. We have a giant Christmas Party, and the highlight of the year for the children is our Camp Merry Times. summer camp. During those tough hospital visits, we send balloons and stuffed animals to the hospital rooms to “brighten” their day. We also do 4 or 5 “Special Wish” vacations each year. 

Q. What is Camp MerryTimes?
A. Camp MerryTimes is our summer camp for children with cancer and their siblings. The ages range from 5 to 17 years old. The camp is supported by physicians and oncology nurses who are on the premise around-the-clock to provide medical care. Scores of activities and events are planned to provide a chance for these kids to be “wonderfully ordinary” and experience the magic of childhood at camp. 

Q. Do families in the Friends of Santa Claus organization pay any fees?
A. No. All of the activities provided by the Friends of Santa Claus are free to our families.

Q. How is Friends of Santa Claus funded?
A. All funding comes from donations made by individuals, corporations and foundations. We also have a gourmet dinner and auction, along with a golf tournament. The rest of our income relies on the generosity of people wanting to make a difference in the lives of these children.
